Toontrack have incorporated a range of different kits and hardware to achieve the classic rock sounds of the 1970s. The seventies was a pivotal era within rock music, birthing some of the most recognisable and infamous faces of the genres at the time. The sounds and playing styles created in this era shaped the way music is played and created today, from the deeply melodic style of Led Zeppelin to the brash, in-your-face style of The Who; the seventies was an era of innovation in music.
Toontrack has striven to capture the original tones and sounds from the 1970s style drum kits, featuring two 1970s era styled kits, sampled with regular drum heads and another kit sampled with toweled drum heads. The 1970s style kits feature Mark Arnold Custom and Camco drum heads where the other kit featured Camco toweled drum heads, delivering a versatile range of drums. Additional snares, cymbals and other sounds have been incorporated to add to its varied range of sounds, ensuring every drum sound you could possibly need is included. The drum samples themselves were recorded at the legendary Columbia Studio A in Nashville, TN, ensuring the best possible audio quality possible, making every drum hit as crisp and articulate as it is intended. The software itself features three different sounding kits. The first kit is designed as a one-of-a-kind replica of Buddy Rich's '70s-era Singerland as well as two different versions of mid-70s, One with toweled drum heads and another with standard heads. These kits deliver immense classic drum hits, perfect for getting that sought-after vintage sound. The drum samples themselves were recorded by renowned drummer Mark Arnold, featuring his custom replica of the Singerland drum set Buddy Rich plays in the 70s.
