The Natal Original wood shells use quality tone woods with sharp, even 45-degree bearing edges for brighter overtones and effective sustain. This generally creates a more lively, 'modern' sound. The Natal 4 Piece Originals Birch bearing edges are hand coated with beeswax. The shells have a magnificent interior surface which stays untouched creating a sleek finish. The finer a shell’s inside, the larger the resonance. An interesting feature about this drum kit is that it is somewhere between a fusion and a rock setup. It has the 'standard' fusion sized toms but a rock sized bass drum of 22". This is just one of the many factors that make this drum kit so popular.
The Natal Original Birch US Fusion X has a heavy die-cast badge with an aluminium ball for enhanced durability. This not only shows the Natal name but also the iconic ‘Sun’ logo. Each Natal Original bass drum carries a wood identification badge too.
Birch shells tend to have boosted high frequencies and a slightly reduced mid-range. It also creates an exceptional low-end punch which is loud and cutting. Birch is generally favoured by studio engineers and recording artists as it is easy to work with, meaning there isn't much ring to it and is very constant.
The Natal 4 Piece Originals comes as standard with Evans EMAD 2 bass drum heads. They have two plies of film, the outer ply of 7 mm and an inner ply of 10 mm. The film provides an enhanced attack, focus and durability. EMAD stands for Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping system, this allows the player to adapt attack and focus.
Evans G2 tom batter heads feature two plies of 7 mm film guaranteeing consistency and durability. The perfect blend of depth, sustain and attack make small toms sing and floor toms growl.
