View Full DescriptionThe smaller and shallower bass drum provides a more defined sound, along with the 13 inch snare drum. A straight grained wood, Ash is tough yet flexible, ideal for snare drums. Using Ash as an inner ply and composite laminate produces a highly responsive shell with bags of attack. Ash has a short resonance with clipped sustain which gives toms extra power, punch and projection.
All Ash shells are 6 ply and feature exclusive PET and PVC wrap finishes. Each tom has two die cast Natal badges featuring the 'Sun' logo. The bass drum also features a wood I.D. badge.
Natal was originally conceived in 1958 by distinguished British percussionist Alan Sharp who, unable to find the exact instruments he wanted to play, sourced their individual parts and assembled them himself. His bongos were of such high quality that orders began to flood in, eventaully leading to the foundation of the Natal Percussion Company in 1965. Natal is fully committed to producing drums and hardware of the highest standard of quality, and Natal percussion is used by top artists including Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy) and Ian Matthews (Kasabian).
