Solid Cedar Top with X Bracing

The AW65 features a solid cedar top to provide its core tonality and playing response. Cedar gives a balanced response, somewhere between the characteristics of spruce and mahogany. Cedar is commonly used on classical guitars for its balanced frequency response and helps give the AW65 a well-rounded tonality that will bring out the treble and bass with equal power and clarity.

Solid tonewoods are more stable and resonant than laminates; the solid cedar top gives you the response and sound of a more expensive guitar. The cedar top is supported by an X bracing pattern which gives it strength and enhances your projection.

Mahogany Body

A mahogany back and sides gives the AW65 a solid base on which to project your tone. Mahogany is also a warm-sounding tonewood and will help to make your tone more full-bodied. The satin finish on the neck and body is just thick enough to protect the woods and allows them to 'breathe' more fully to provide enhanced resonance.  

Mahogany Neck & Ovangkol Fingerboard

A mahogany neck features the same satin finish as the body and creates a wonderfully smooth and tactile playing surface. The mahogany also adds warmth to your tone and assists with the AW65's sustain. The Ovangkol fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface for your left hand, and the 400mm radius ensures you'll have a balanced feel across all 6 strings. This guitar is designed to enable players of any skill-level to perform with ease, and the 15th fret body join ensures you'll be able to reach right up to the high frets.

Ibanez Advantage Bridge Pins

Ibanez Advantage bridge pins are designed to enable quicker string changes without the difficulty associated with old-fashioned bridge pin designs. They include a special bulb-shaped end that makes the pin easier to grip, while preventing the pin from being pushed too far into the guitar - a common issue with the traditional bridge pin.

Dreadnought Body Shape

The dreadnought body shape is one of the original pre-war guitar designs. It is named after large battleships and features a similarly large proportion. This design gives incredible projection and a deeply resonant sound. Early adopters of the dreadnought acoustic guitar used it in folk and bluegrass styles, although the guitar went onto traverse the genres. This shape is ideal for powerful strumming, where its volume can be the perfect accompaniment to a singer. Fingerpickers will also appreciate the AW65's well-rounded tonality and deep bass response.
