Create evolving sounds with dual-layer wavetable synthesis
The n/vision combines the digital character of classic wavetable synthesizers with modern sound-shaping tools, giving you plenty of control over how your patches develop. Its two-layer wavetable architecture lets you independently blend and shape sounds within upper and lower parts, creating everything from slowly evolving pads to sharp, aggressive leads.
Two-part multitimbral operation also supports dual and split modes, making it easier to combine contrasting sounds or assign different tones across your keyboard. Wavetable position controls allow you to explore different harmonic characteristics, while the spread parameter expands the stereo image.
Explore detailed modulation and harmonic shaping
The n/vision gives you extensive control over the movement and harmonic character of your sounds. Multiple modulation sources can affect wavetable position, layer balance, pitch, and shaping parameters, allowing patches to change continuously as you play. A step LFO and envelope modulation provide further options for creating rhythmic movement and evolving textures.
The dedicated waveshaper uses nonlinear processing to generate additional harmonics, helping you develop sounds that go beyond conventional wavetable synthesis. For further tonal control, the drive-equipped analogue-modelling filter includes several models inspired by vintage synthesizers. These tools make it easier to create everything from subtle tonal variations to complex, heavily processed electronic sounds.
Develop musical ideas with sequencing and effects
The n/vision features a two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer that supports up to eight notes per step, giving you room to build detailed basslines, chord progressions, and melodic patterns. Motion recording lets you capture parameter adjustments within your sequences, introducing changes in tone and movement as patterns play. A built-in arpeggiator provides another way to generate rhythmic ideas directly from the keyboard.
For sound processing, the 17-type MFX engine includes Roland's JUNO chorus, while dedicated delay and reverb effects add space and depth. Five reverb types are available, including a shimmer mode that introduces octave-shifted harmonics into the reverb sound. Together, these features provide plenty of options for developing complete musical phrases.
Make music anywhere with flexible connectivity
The n/vision brings detailed wavetable synthesis into Roland's compact Boutique format, making it suitable for desktop studios, mobile setups, and live performance rigs. Its included K-25m keyboard dock turns the module into a standalone instrument, while the built-in speaker lets you hear your sounds without connecting external monitors.
Power is supplied through four AA batteries or USB-C, giving you flexibility when creating music away from your usual setup. A USB-C audio/MIDI interface provides direct computer connectivity for recording and production, while traditional MIDI input and output support integration with other hardware. An external clock input also allows synchronisation with analogue equipment, helping the n/vision fit into a wider electronic music setup.
