Inttuitve sequencing and controls
Programm is made for different sequencing approaches, which is useful when one track starts with a clear plan and the next starts with experimentation. You can play notes in from an external MIDI controller, enter them step by step or use the button grid as a scale-locked keyboard in live mode.
Once the notes are there, dedicated controls let you shape pitch gate length ratcheting CV or CC note offset and step conditions without slowing down. And when you want something less predictable, the randomisation tools can be applied by step or by sequencer, giving you movement and variation while keeping the result usable.
Fits neatly into mixed rigs
One of Programm’s strongest features is how easily it handles different kinds of gear. Each sequencer channel can communicate through MIDI and CV, so it can sit between desktop synths modular voices and drum machines without forcing you into one format. It can also send clock or follow an external clock through MIDI and CV, which helps keep the rest of your setup tight and consistent.
For melodic work you get four monophonic sequencers with MIDI, including two with dedicated analog pitch CV and gate outputs. For rhythm duties there are eight drum sequencers with dedicated gate outputs, giving you plenty of room for layered percussion.
Build detail into every pattern
Programm has the depth to move beyond basic looping. Sequence lengths can run up to 64 steps, and each sequence can use a different length, so it is easy to create shifting relationships between parts. Six groove modes push timing further than classic swing, while four customisable pattern generator algorithms give you useful starting points when you want to move quickly.
The 32 step grid adapts as you work, acting as a programmer in step mode a keyboard in live mode and an information display while parameters are being changed. You can also choose key and scale, which helps keep ideas coherent when you are trying out melodies at speed.
Designed for fast control and recall
Fast access matters when inspiration shows up suddenly, and Programm is built around that idea. The large dot matrix display shows settings note values keys tuning offsets and randomisation modes clearly, so you can check what is happening without losing momentum. The orange knobs keep editing immediate, which is especially helpful when refining step data in the middle of a session.
Clear copy paste and recall functions support quick experimentation, and the recall feature is especially useful for saving a sequence after the moment has passed. You can store up to 64 patterns and 32 songs, then use Programm as a standalone unit in its included case or remove it for Eurorack use when space matters more.
